# Personal Formation — Curriculum Arc

The 12-month formation program. **Adaptive, not fixed** — order and depth flex based on learning records and what life throws (a hard complication may pull Month 2 forward; a career decision may pull Month 3). Each month = 2–3 core texts + one written practice. Full rationale per book lives in [SYLLABUS.md](SYLLABUS.md).

Built around seven dimensions:
1. **The Surgeon's Inner Command** — calm, courage, humility, self-control
2. **The Physician's Humanity** — suffering, mortality, compassion, patient narratives
3. **The Builder's Judgment** — leadership, decisions, institutions, long-term strategy
4. **The Researcher's Mind** — rigor, skepticism, memory, writing, truth-seeking
5. **The Family Man's Wisdom** — love, presence, limits, meaning beyond achievement
6. **The Brazilian Intellectual's Depth** — Brazil, language, culture, public life
7. **The AI-Age Humanist** — preserving attention, judgment, ethics, agency

## How progression works
- Every finished text → a formation note in `learning-records/` using the 5-heading format in [NOTES.md](NOTES.md).
- Lessons (in `lessons/`) are built one at a time on request: a lesson can be a book companion (guided reading + reflection questions anchored to a live case/decision), a practice protocol card (mindful scrub-in, post-case review), or a monthly synthesis.
- The daily protocol (morning / pre-op / post-op / evening) runs *continuously* regardless of month — it's the spine; the reading feeds it. Full protocol in [NOTES.md](NOTES.md).
- If a month's theme collides with real life (complication, career decision, family season), re-route to the matching month — the arc serves the formation, not the calendar.
